Wild Blue Lupine - Lupinus succulentus

Blue Lupine is one of the world’s favorite wildflowers. Masses of electric blue spires light up a hillside, meadow, or garden, They're sturdy and majestic, thrive in most every region from Maine to Texas, enriching the soil, all without human intervention. They're partial to the sandy soil of the dry Southwest.

Lupine attracts butterflies, feeds bees, repels deer, and is drought tolerant. Plus it makes a long lasting cut flower.

Wild Lupine grows about 3' tall. It's perennial is most zones and reseeds generously till a patch becomes a sweep. Direct sow the seeds in autumn and the blooms will appear in spring.
