Giant Cactus Collection - Pachycereus spp.

$5.69

Pachycereus are giant cactus from the Sonoran desert in Mexico. They grow straight up like totem poles, 15' to 50' tall. Some form clusters, some branch. All are absurdly tall and amazing. They love hot dry climates, sandy soil, and don't need to be watered. Most produce enormous white blossoms in springtime. Some are prickly. Most are not. All are spectacular.

These amazing giants thrive outdoors in zones 9-11 and do very well in containers elsewhere. Young specimens should be kept from freezing but mature plants tolerate cold down to 25*. This is a collection of species that includes San Pedro, Saguaro and other amazing giants.

Seeds are fairly easy to germinate.  They need heat, light, and a well draining soil, you can use a cactus mix.  Fill a pot with your soil, and water, allow to drain.  Place your seeds on the surface of the soil, and sprinkle a light layer of soil over seeds.  Use a spray bottle to keep soil moist, but never soaking wet.  A spray bottle is ideal also because a hard stream of water can dislodge seeds and bury them too deeply to germinate.  Cover your pot with plastic wrap and place in a warm, sunny location.  Once you have seedlings, remove plastic wrap.

15 seeds.
