Crimson Clover - Trifolium incarnatum

$2.99

Now is the time to plant Crimson Clover. Spring or fall, any zone from 3 to 10, now is the perfect time.

Crimson Clover smells lovely and blooms strawberry-red flowers in spring. Probably the prettiest cover crop on earth, you can turn it under in spring or let it spread as a pretty ground cover. It re-energizes your soil by pulling nitrogen from the air. It discourages weeds and attracts beneficial insects. It grows in all climates, thrives in sun or shade, reseeds gently without taking over, and it's gorgeous.

Plant it in fall four weeks before first frost (late summer in warm climates). It will form a dense green carpet by mid-winter and mature in June with crimson flowers on 18" plants. Scuffle up bare soil, broadcast the seed evenly, cover with ¼” of soil. Water evenly. No pre-treatment needed for germination. Sow seeds just below soil surface at 70F and water.

500 seeds - Covers about 3 sq ft.
