The French take their melons very seriously and they consider Petit Gris the absolute best. Petit Gris means “little grey,” named for its appearance before ripening. Discovered nearly 400 years ago in the Bishop of Rennes' garden, it has been treasured by French gardeners ever since.
The small, fragrant fruits have remarkable favor. Their orange flesh tastes a bit like brown sugar. You won't find them at the supermarket as they are too fragile to ship, but they'll grow nicely in your garden. They do well in cooler climates, don't need much space, are very productive and ripen early. 80-85 days. Certified organic.
